Timesheet Mobile's smartphone app is very efficient in its use of data. Each shift (punch in/out) consumes a mere 10 Kilobytes of data and syncing a list of 1,000+ customers and tasks consumes less than 1 Megabyte of data. Considering a typical month with 22 working days with the app syncing every 6 hours daily and an employee punching in/out at the beginning of the day and for a break or lunch and the monthly data used amounts to less than 55 Megabytes. In most cases, this will be low compared to other apps on your phone.
Just like battery use, mobile phone users can monitor the amount of cellular data used by the apps installed on their device. Here are links showing how to do this for Android and iPhone users:

Keep in mind that the analysis above assumes the employee is using only cellular data. A strategy we recommend to minimize the use of cellular data is to connect to (free) WiFi networks whenever possible, especially when syncing the app. Cellular data is not used when connected to WiFi and with so many of the networks offered for free, it just makes sense.
